Andrew W. Kaputa

Andrew W. Kaputa, age 89, of Stratford, the beloved husband of Irene Podesla Kaputa passed away on July 23, 2010 in Bridgeport Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer. Andrew was born on May 24, 1921 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late John and Mary Homa Kaputa. He attended Warren Harding School and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and had also served in the United States Army in Germany during WW II. Andrew was employed with General Electric Company for forty-seven years as a shipping coordinator and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the Greek Catholic Union and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Branch # 281. In addition to his devoted wife Irene of fifty-eight years, he is also survived by his cherished daughter, Mary Louise Kaputa of Stratford, two brothers, Frank Kaputa and his wife Carole of Stratford, Robert Kaputa and his wife Geri of Boca Raton, Florida, Godchild, Cathleen Blauchfield, a special nephew Dennis Kaputa who was always there to help and several other devoted nieces and nephews. Andrew was also predeceased by four brothers, William, John, Richard and Albert Kaputa and two sisters, Mary Guman and Elsie Najpauer. Irene and Mary Louise would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Nelson Chao and Dr. Jerry Malefatto for all of their care and compassion given to them and Andrew throughout his illness.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 9:00 AM in the GALELLO-LUCHANSKY FUNERAL HOME, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 AM at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church St. Bpt., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Joseph W. Pekar. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call at the GALELLO-LUCHANSKY FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 4 – 7 PM.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers due to allergies, those who so desire may offer masses at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in memory of Andrew through the funeral director.
