John Zotack Obituary

John “Jack” Zotack, age 86, of Stratford and formerly Fairfield, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023, at his home with his loving friends and caregivers by his side. Jack was born on May 9, 1937, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late John F Zotack and Olga Koletar Zotack… He was raised in Bridgeport where he met his childhood sweetheart Phyllis Mannoni, and they married in 1958. They moved to Fairfield and began their lives journey together of 62 years until the time of Phyllis’s passing in 2020… Jack and Phyllis owned the Koletar Insurance Agency in Bridgeport and then in Fairfield. Jack and Phyllis retired in 2005 and moved to Oronoque Village in Stratford where they both truly enjoyed the retired life with friends close by. Jack loved to play tennis, was a member of Oronoque Village Tennis Club and was a former OVTC Champion… Besides tennis, Jack enjoyed traveling with Phyllis, playing his Wurlitzer organ, bowling, swimming, playing cards and trips to the casino. Jack & Phyllis were avid Dog Lovers having many pet dogs throughout their lives. They were proud supporters of local animal charities, and that support will continue in their memory. Jack is survived by his canine friend, Mollie who gave him so much joy over the past 3 years of his life, special friend and caregiver Joseph Dedo of Southbury, friend and caregiver Shokhista “Jackie” Khanbabaeva, three step nephews, Mark Kovacs and wife, Jeanette of Shelton, Richard B. Kovacs of Oxford and Greg Kovacs of Naugatuck. In addition to his beloved wife, Phyllis Mannoni Zotack, Jack was also predeceased by his Father, John F Zotack, Mother, Olga Koletar Zotack Kovacs, Stepfather George Kovacs, Stepbrother Richard Kovacs, and his wife Joan. Jack wanted to recognize his gratitude for the special care and companionship he received from Shokhista “Jackie” Khanbabaeva over the past 3 years of his life. She truly made a difference. All services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
