Irene Yarzynski

March 8, 1920 ~ March 25, 2017 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Irene Samorajczyk Yarzynski, age 97, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Frank J. Yarzynski Sr., passed away peacefully on March 25, 2017 in her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 8, 1920 in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Valentine and Mary Morawski Samorajczyk. Irene graduated from Columbia's Dental school as a dental hygienist. She put her career on hold when she married the love of her life, her husband, Frank in order to raise her family. Unfortunately, after her husband Frank died, she had to run the family business, the Avenue Restaurant, with her son Frank Jr.. Irene cooked many homemade meals at the restaurant. She was a great cook, avid gardener and loved to knit and do embroidery. Day trips with her daughters and son-in-law were one of her favorite things. Irene loved to go out to eat, especially for lobster rolls! There were many family trips that gave us wonderful memories. Irene loved the holidays, Christmas and Easter were her favorites. Even though she just turned 97, her mind was still great and she was still cooking almost every day. Irene had a great love for her polish heritage, family, family gatherings and enjoyed talking to all her nephews and relatives. She always put the needs of her family first and was a devoted mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, wife and friend. She was a smart, strong, hard-working and very sweet person. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Our family will not be the same without her. Irene is survived by three daughters, Marion Yarzynski of Stratford, Patty Bobko of Bridgeport and Kathy Weller and husband Ed of West Haven, one grandson, Andrew Bobko and wife Nicole, one great granddaughter, Ellie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Frank J. Yarzynski Sr., Irene was also predeceased by her son, Frank J. Yarzynski Jr. and her daughter, Irene Yarzynski and six brothers and sisters.
