Catherine Nakoneczny

Nakoneczny, Catherine Kasper Nakoneczny, age 98, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Alexander Nakoneczny, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2016 in Milford Hospital with her loving family by her side. Catherine was born on March 22, 1918 in Keystone, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Shiroky Kasper. Catherine married Alexander Nakoneczny on December 28, 1937. A kind, considerate, generous, and loving person with great wisdom, Catherine would go out of her way to serve others, even strangers. She enjoyed spending time with all children, especially her grand and great grandchildren. For those who "dropped in", she would be able to whip up a delicious meal or snack from whatever was found in the fridge. Many a Sunday afternoon aunts, uncles, and cousins would gather at Catherine's home where sandwiches and trimmings would be enjoyed. Catherine is survived by one son, Wayne Nakoneczny and wife Carol Bashar of Cheshire, one daughter, Sandra Motasky and husband Randall of Pomfret, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one sister, Eleanor Bogey, one son-in-law, Paul Marinaccio of E. Orleans, Cape Cod, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband, Alex, Catherine was also predeceased by one daughter, Eleanor Marinaccio and eleven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford officiated by Pastor James Marshall. Interment will follow in St. John's cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday, August 29, 2016 for 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The family acknowledges the staff at West River Rehab in Milford for the outstanding and loving care of Catherine over the last nine years. We also appreciate all the friends and family members that visited her faithfully. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire, may make a donation in Catherine's memory to Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06825.
