Dorothy Lawruszko Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) M. Day Lawruszko, age 94, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Stephen Lawruszko, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 30, 2022, to be with our Lord. She was born in Derby on November 10, 1927 to the late Louis and Ruby Cook Day. She resided in Bridgeport most of her younger years where she met the love of her life, Steve. They married in September 1952 and became the proud parents of twins in 1957. She lived a simple life; her family meant everything to her and was most important. Being at family get-togethers she was known as the jello-jigglers queen as she brought them to every party, and the kids loved them! Being with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild was her reason for living. She always had a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes whenever she saw them. She was a private soul who was quiet and timid when she wanted to be, and ferocious like a lion when she needed to be. But mostly, we will remember her as a sweet, fun loving, silly person, always giggling. She loved playing board games with her grandchildren, especially Monopoly, Trouble, and Yahtzee. She also had a love for word searches and puzzles; she said it kept her head in the game. She loved going to Disney, where she was able to feel like a kid again. She is survived by her children, Barbara Sheehy and husband, Robert, Joseph Lawruszko Sr. and wife, Lisa, grandchildren, Lisa Lawruszko, Joseph  Lawruszko Jr. and wife, Melissa , J. Brett Miklos, Jessica Sheehy, great-grandchildren, Briana and Nathan Garofano, Reese Volosin, twins Ava and Zachary Lawruszko, Maci and Samone Miklos, great-great grandchild, Mikey Vitale, her sister, Evelyn Racine, and many nieces, nephews, and many “like family” friends. In addition to her beloved husband of 42 years, Stephen Lawruszko, Dorothy was also predeceased by her sister, Edith Nicholas, brother in laws, Philip Nicholas and Michael DeCaro Sr., and nephew, Michael DeCaro Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford, where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Albert Pinciaro. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
