Conklin, Edward George Conklin, age 85, of Southbury, beloved husband, father and grandfather, brother and friend passed peacefully on February 18, 2016 in his residence with his loving family by his side. Ed was born February 22, 1930 and was the son of the late James and Catherine (Regan) Conklin of Stamford. He was a 1948 graduate of Stamford High School. Ed went into sales and retired from Petro Fuel Oil after 25 years of service that he enjoyed. Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Patricia (Kijek) Conklin of Southbury, his four loving children, Lindy Hennessy and her husband, Jack of Bridgeport, Lawrence Conklin and his wife, Nida of Fairfield, Michael Conklin and his wife, Lori of Stamford, and Patricia Conklin Thompson and her husband Jeff, of Fairfield, ten grandchildren, Clara Conklin Bell and husband Alec, Christina Conklin and fiancé Michael Bialokur, Sean Michael Hennessy, Melissa Townsend and husband James, Catherine Conklin and long-time companion Michael Guarino, Shane Hennessy, Sean Thompson, Candace Conklin, Meisha Hennessy and Rebecca Thompson, one brother, Joseph Conklin of Wappinger Falls, NY, one sister-in-law, Claire Conklin of Old Saybrook and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his beloved parents, Edward was also predeceased by two brothers, John "Jack" Conklin and his wife, Irene, his brother Thomas Conklin, and his sister-in-law Ann Conklin one half-brother, James Conklin, and one half-sister, Gertrude Pieret and her husband, Ted.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Cipriani. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Edward Conklin to Hartford HealthCare at Home Hospice, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury, CT 06708. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
