Edward J. Krygier, Jr., of Stratford, beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Uhelsky Krygier, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 1, 2022 after a brief illness. Ed was born on April 18, 1942 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Edward and Helen Grywalski Krygier. Raised in Fairfield, he attended St. Anthony's of Padua Church & School, Fairfield Prep, and Boston College, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting. He obtained his Master's Degree in Finance from the University of Bridgeport and became a licensed CPA. Thereafter, he started his accounting career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in New York City and his life with Betty. In 1971, he joined the Olin Corporation in Stamford where he worked tirelessly for the next forty years as a Manager of Financial Reporting. He was blessed to spend his retirement years taking care of and playing with his grandchildren. He spent countless hours giving them wagon rides; reading them dinosaur and bird books; and taking them to endless pumpkin patches, aquariums, zoos and museums. He was extremely dedicated to "The Prep." For twenty years, he organized and led the Prep Alumni Group in serving the hungry and homeless in the Bridgeport and New Haven areas. In 2013, he received Prep's St. Ignatius Award for his distinguished service. Ed also volunteered as an usher at 5:00 Saturday evening mass and as a member of the Finance Committee for St. Mark's Church. Ed had a truly wonderful life with his wife of 52 years, Betty and was a tremendous dad to their two children. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Dunn and her husband, Kevin of Fairfield, his son Jeffrey Krygier and wife, Carolyn of Los Altos, California, his three loving grandchildren, Ryan Dunn, Lucy Krygier and August Krygier, one brother, Joseph Krygier of Missouri, and one sister, Shirley Conley, of Salem, NH. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 12:00 PM at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Birendra Soreng. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
