Edward Vrabel Obituary

Edward John Vrabel of Stratford, passed away on October 16, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital.  He was born in Stratford on November 1, 1931 and was the son of the later Stephen and Julia Sulik Vrabel.  He attended Franklin School and Stratford High where he graduated with distinction from the Industrial Arts program.  Ed was an avid baseball player and was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church baseball team that won the CYO New England championship in 1950.  He joined the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and served in Munich, Germany as a battalion photographer where had several photographs published in Stars and Stripes. Ed married Regina Cecilia Hojnowski of Bridgeport in June of 1955 and they were happily married until Regina’s passing in 2022.  Ed’s professional career was in industrial design/prototype fabrication and he retired from this profession in 1993.  During his career he worked at Wright Power Saw,  Remington Rand, General Electric, and Black and Decker.  During his career he was awarded several patents for innovations that he developed for electric shavers and coffee makers. Ed’s hobbies included Golf, Softball, Fishing and Boating.  He was lifetime member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Stratford.  He is survived by his son, Dr. Thomas Vrabel, his daughter in law Elsie Swarts Vrabel and his granddaughters Monika Vrabel and Krista Vrabel Cotton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
