Obituary

Erle W. Cadwell, age 68, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 after a short and sudden illness, at the Jewish Senior Center in Bridgeport, CT. Erle was born on October 25, 1952, to the late Frederick and Naomi Erle Cadwell, Erle was raised in Stratford until twenty years ago when he went to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Ted and Dawn Cadwell Kostzewski, in Trumbull, who became Erle’s loving and dedicated caregivers.  Erle was a true gentle giant whose smile lit up every room he entered.  He was big in stature, but his heart was even bigger, making everyone’s lives he touched just a little more special.   Erle was caring, loving, generous, thoughtful, and kind.  He loved collecting keys and keychains, watching General Hospital and Dancing with the Stars, and traveling to New Hampshire in the summers with his family.  He enjoyed going to Grasmere on Park Adult Day three days a week and spending time with friends and special staff members there.  These days were the highlight of Erle’s week!  The family would like to give a special thank you to the many kind people who took care of Erle including, the staff of Grasmere on Park Adult Day, Home Together, and Chaifetz Family Hospice;  especially Donna, Bernadette, Rebecca, Jackie, and the staff on Feldman 4.  He will be sadly missed by so many. In addition to his sister and brother-in-law, survivors include two brothers, Scott T. Cadwell, of San Diego, California; and Brook B. Cadwell of Florida; several special cousins, including Linda and Joe Martinka and Miles Holcomb, nephews and nieces, Gerry Spiller, Holly, Justin, Emily, and Hanna Cadwell, Jenny and Scott Cadwell II, and his three closest and beloved nieces, Amy Sakowicz, Jill Perkins (Michael Dow), and Emma Kathryn Sakowicz, who shared their daily lives with Erle.  He was predeceased by a brother, David Cadwell, and two nieces, Susan and Sarah Kostzewski. Services and interment were private and handled by the Galello Luchansky Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Erle’s favorite place, Grasmere on Park Adult Day, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
