Esther Royal

Royal, Esther Ceccarelli Royal, age 91, beloved wife of the late Robert S. Royal Sr., peacefully went home to the Lord on October 2 at St. Joseph Center in Trumbull where she had been a resident since having a serious stroke in February, 2013. A lifelong resident of Stratford, she was born on August 28, 1925, the daughter of Anthony and Rose Ceccarelli. Throughout her life, Esther periodically worked in a variety of office positions. But most importantly, she loved her family and was a woman of deep faith. She was a faithful member first of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and then since 1970 Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She loved her parish communities, attended Mass daily, and was an active member at both churches. Esther is survived by her two sons, Robert Royal, Jr. and wife Veronica of Annandale, Virginia and Monsignor Kevin Royal of Stamford, three grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Elizabeth McCoy and husband Ian of Amman, Jordan, John Paul Royal and wife Kara of Herndon, Virginia and Natalie Royal of Annandale, Virginia, five great-grandchildren, who always brought out her youthful spirit: Sophia, Bridget and Thomas McCoy of Amman, Jordan and Robert and Eva Marie Royal of Herndon, Virginia, one sister, Margaret Anderson of Stratford who was a loving caregiver for her in these last years, as were so many at St. Joseph Center. Her family will greatly miss her. In addition to her beloved parents, Esther was also predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow immediately at St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
