Florence J. (Savino) McDonald

Florence J. Savino McDonald, age 92 of Swannanoa, NC, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024.  Born to the late Francis and Anna Montifiore Savino, she was raised in Stratford and graduated Stratford High School in 1949.  On May 14, 1955 she married Edward F. McDonald, who predeceased her on July 8, 2006. While raising their four children, she worked for many years at Response Graphics, then worked at the Stratford Library until retiring in 1996. Always a very sociable lady, Florence loved spending time with her siblings and many cousins.  Flo also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, getting together with friends, vacationing and shopping, shopping, shopping! Florence is survived by her beloved children, Edward (Carol) McDonald, Leslie (Mark) Roman, Pamela (Rick) Prusik, Kathleen (Paul) Gluhanich, eight cherished grandchildren, Carrie D’Amato, Ryan (Kitty) McDonald, RJay (Sherrie), Brandon and Andrew (Hillary) Prusik, Haley, Jessica and Ashley Gluhanich,  adoring “GG” great-grandmother to Olivia D’Amato and Brittany Prusik, one brother Michael Savino and one sister, Beverly Wydra. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 (stjude.org/donate) or a charity of your choice.
