Helen Janiunas Obituary

Helen Butenas Janiunas, age 102, beloved wife of the late Joseph Janiunas, previously of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020 in Cape Cod Hospital. She was born on June 3, 1918 in Pandelys, Lithuania and was the daughter of the late Ona and Felixas Butenas. Helen worked in Quality Control for Sperry Corp., Remington Rand Divistion and was a member of the Knights of Lithuania Council #141, since its inception at St. George Church in Bridgeport. She had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Lithuanian Choir at St. George Church and was very proud of her Lituanian heritage. Helen is survived by her son, Edmund Janiunas of West Yarmouth, MA, two nieces, Elena Sakalauskiene of Vilnius, Lithuania and Lilija Godow of Chicago, IL. In addition to her beloved husband, Helen was also predeceased by one daughter, Helen Dalia Janiunas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Peace Church in the Lordship section of Stratford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Nicholas Pavia. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 10:00 – 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may contribute to the Sisters of Immaculate Conception, 600 Liberty Highway, Putnam, CT, 06260.
