Jeanne Mottram Obituary

Jeanne R Mottram, age 99, a longtime resident of Lordship passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on June 29, 2024 at her grandson’s home in Seymour where she resided for the last four years. Jeanne was born on February 27, 1925 in Bridgeport, daughter of John Eaton and Anna Toomey. Jeanne and her late husband Walter Mottram were married on June 19, 1943 and they celebrated their 70thwedding anniversary in 2013 just prior to her husband’s passing in 2014. Jeanne and her husband lived in Bridgeport and then Port Huron Michigan before returning to Connecticut in 1951 when they purchased their forever home in the Lordship section of Stratford.  While raising two daughters, Jeanne worked full time at News Publishing for years as an editor. She then took an accounting job for Standard & Poor’s at their satellite office in Stratford and finally at their headquarters in New York City.   Jeanne took a hiatus from working in her 50’s but returned to work in her late 60s in the accounting department at a local packaging company where she finally retired at the age of 80. Jeanne was active throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, vacationing and visiting with family and friends.   Jeanne was an avid singer and president of the WICC Singing Sweethearts and was always involved with community activities including her local PTA and was a member of the Lordship Fathers Club and a permanent member of the East End Yacht Club. She will be remembered for her commitment to family, her kindness and generosity, her positive attitude and sense of humor.  She will surely be missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  She was truly a very special lady. Jeanne is survived by her two daughters Barbara Feathers and husband Victor of TN, and Sharon Routzong of MA. Five grandchildren - Paul Regan and wife Donna of Seymour, Megan Staebell and husband Travis of CO, Laura Brewbaker and her husband Aaron of NC, Evan Routzong and wife Krissy of NC, and Michael Feathers of NC and seven great grandchildren.
