Kovacs, Joan C. Samsel Kovacs, age 76, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Richard B. Kovacs, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2015 in her residence with her loving family by her side. Joan was born April 24, 1939 in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Andronik Samsel. She worked over 25 years as an accounting supervisor for Howland-Steinbach. Joan raised her three sons in Easton and enjoyed boating and fishing as a family. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering at her parish, St. Joseph's in Shelton, served on the board of her condominium association, where she lived for the past nine years of her life and made many friends, including Mary Miller, her good friend and neighbor. Joan will be most remembered for her wonderful meals and celebration of all her families' milestones. She lovingly prepared the traditional favorites and had a unique ability to make people feel special and loved. Joan is survived by her three loving sons, Mark Kovacs and his wife Jeanette of Shelton, Richard Barry Kovacs and his wife Sue of Oxford and Greg Kovacs and his wife Beth of Oxford, seven grandchildren Ashley, Chelsey and Lindsey Kovacs, Richard, Nicholas and Emily Kovacs and Lauren Kovacs, one brother Joseph Samsel of Stratford, brother-in-law, Jack Zotack and wife Phyllis of Stratford, one uncle, Steve Samsel and wife Dorothy of Fairfield, one aunt, Dolores Miscinillio of Bridgeport, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband, Richard of 44 years, Joan was also predeceased by one grandson, Dylan Kovacs and one sister, Ranelda (Rennie) Wharton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM DIRECTLY in St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Place, Shelton, CT., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Christopher J. Walsh. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may contribute to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 in Joan's memory.
