John Maresca Obituary

John Anthony Maresca, age 93, beloved husband of Lucrecia Delvecchio Maresca, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021; surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Maresca was born on December 14, 1927 in Bridgeport, to Giovanni and Concetta Maresca. At a young age, he learned the ropes of the family business and became a successful milk distributer. Going door to door delivering and then eventually distributing to independent markets. He loved to talk to everyone and everyone knew him as “John the Milkman.” He also served in the Army for a short time. At 18 years old, he met and married the love of his life, Grace. They recently had the privilege of celebrating 75 years together. His life was one of giving selflessly to others, even taking homeless people into a store and clothing them, with a coat and shoes and money to eat. If you were with him, you never paid for anything. One of the things he said throughout his whole life was “Do you need anything?” His humor was also an endless trail of laughs and one-of-a-kind jokes. The room was never dull with him around. His family was everything to him and he made each of us feel so special and loved. We were all his kids. He took great pride in every one of us. Our lives will never be the same without him. He will be greatly missed but will forever be in our hearts. Until we meet again. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucrecia (Grace) Maresca; his cherished nieces and nephews; niece, Lisa and her husband Robert Hammond and their two children, Robert Hammond Jr. and his wife Kristina and Noelle Hammond, nephew Darren and his wife Anne Marie Royal, their two daughters, Brenna and Brooke and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Anthony Maresca, Dominic Maresca, Carmine Maresca, and Salvatore Maresca and his two sisters, Philomena Conti and Eleanor Difeo. Due to the current health situation, all services were held privately. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. The family is forever grateful to his compassionate caregivers, Simone Johnson and Jodi Eccleston.
