John F Mraz Sr

Mraz, John F. Mraz Sr., age 95, of Stratford, beloved husband of Ida Romano Mraz, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015 in Boca Raton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. John was born on February 14, 1920 in Butkovcs, Czechoslovakia and was the son of the late Julius and Anna Palo Mraz. He was an animal lover, enjoyed gardening, reading, going for car rides and cherished spending time with family. John was a member of the German Schwaben Club, Slovak Alliance Club and the VFW Post 9460. In addition to his cherished wife, Ida of 62 years, John is also survived by one son, John Mraz Jr. and wife Jean of Stratford, one daughter, Arlene Pengue of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, three grandchildren, Kevin Pengue Jr. and wife Tara, Ashley Pengue and Olivia Mraz, two sisters, Mary Alfano and husband Joseph of Huntington and Helen Witkins of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his adored parents, John was also predeceased by two brothers, Henry Mraz and Julius Mraz.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 14, 2015 at 9:00 AM in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 AM in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church Street, Bridgeport, CT where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Joseph W. Pekar. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Stratford with full military honors. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. - A Legacy of Compassion -
