Joseph F Samsel

Samsel, Joseph F. Samsel Jr, age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Frances E. Franko Samsel, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 in his residence with his loving family by his side. Joseph was born on October 22, 1935 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Andronik Samsel. He was a proud US Marine Veteran, who served his country proudly and was the proprietor of Samsel Drywall for many years. Joseph was an avid Duckpin bowler, bowling many perfect games, an excellent drywall taper, but his biggest passion was fishing on the Long Island Sound, freshwater trout fishing and spending cherished time with his beloved family. Joseph is survived by two loving daughters, Frances (Pookie) M. Samsel of Stratford and Kristine G. Samsel and Aurora Joaquim of Huntington and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and godchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Frances, Joseph was also predeceased by two sisters, Joan Kovacs and Raynelda Wharton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 9:00 AM in Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 AM in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church Street, Bridgeport where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Joseph W. Pekar. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
