Judith A. Sciuto

Judith Ann (Judy) Lecardo  Sciuto, of Stratford, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, November 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 72. Judy spent her life sharing joy and love with her family and friends, with the strangers she encountered at church, and even those she met while running errands. She loved having company over, and was a great example of hospitality to those who visited for a big, homemade Italian meal, or just for “coffee and…” Regardless of whether she knew them for 10 minutes or 10 years, Judy made all visitors feel like family when they entered her home. Judy lived her entire life in Stratford, where she and her husband Russell met and were married in 1971, and raised their family. Judy held a Masters in Education and taught at Eli Whitney Elementary School before the birth of their daughter. She was a proud homemaker for many years, and when her children were older, took a teaching position at Grace Preschool, where she taught for several years. Teaching those little ones gave Judy so much joy.  Judy was a member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi since the 1980’s, and she and Russ built lifelong friendships with many of the couples they met through that organization. They enjoyed many parties and cruises with several of those couples. They were like a big extended family to Judy and her family. Judy is survived by Russell, her husband of 51 years, one daughter Amy Rose (A.J.), one son, Russell, Jr. (Jill); four grandchildren, who were her greatest joy: Andrew Rose, Adeline Rose, Annabella Rose, and Luca Sciuto, one brother, John Lecardo; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Rose Lecardo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Lordship, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford, CT 06615. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, as it was a charity close to Judy’s heart.
