Marjorie R. Bednarz

Marjorie R. Bednarz, 72, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Stanley (Stas’) Bednarz Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport she was a resident of Stratford for over 40 years. For the last 10 years, Marge was a proud crossing guard for the Town of Stratford and was delighted to see each and every student. She is survived by her son, Kevin Bednarz, Sr. of Stratford and her daughter Jennifer B. Tayman and her husband Ryan of Shelton; two grandsons, Kevin Bednarz Jr. and Justin Tayman; daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Jenny) Bednarz of Bridgeport; sister and best friend Arlene Sopp of Stratford, and sisters Katherine Rundgren of Orange City, Fl., and Donna Sivak and her husband George of Stratford, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cherished niece Christine Grindrod of Stratford. Marge was a proud second mother to Anthony Gianpaolo of Shelton and Brian Gianpaolo of Watertown, MA. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Winifred Grindrod and treasured great- nephew Joshua Alvarado. Marge leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and determination. She was not only a wonderful mother but also a cherished grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor, and source of unwavering love. While our hearts ache with this loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the love she gave so freely. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s Critical Care Unit, 10 East Acute Rehab and 9 South Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave to our mother over the last couple months. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, with a mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm at Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
