Mark Kascak, age 60 of Stratford, the beloved husband of Carol Hetten Kascak for 38 years, entered into eternal rest on December 1, 2020. He was born in Bridgeport on October 25, 1960 to the late Edward G. and Susanne Rose Kascak. He was a graduate of Bunnell High School Class of 1978. He was a great father who was very involved in his children’s lives. He loved to cheer on his daughter at her dancing classes and at the Bunnell Marching Band competitions. He was also active in the Bunnell Band Parent Association and jumped in to help wherever he was needed. As a Scout dad he spent many years leading and supporting his son and other scouts. He helped numerous scouts earn their merit badges and supported them on their way to earning their Eagle rank. In addition to Band and Scouts he was a role model for many of his children’s friends. Mark was truly a people person. He loved to call and visit with his family including his nieces and many cousins. He was a true and loyal friend who carried on many friendships, some dating back to his grammar school days. Mark never hesitated to help a friend in need or go out of his way just to say hello. He had a great appreciation for many genres of music and dabbled in playing various instruments over the years. But the instrument he will be remembered most for is his voice, as he loved to sing. For several years he performed in the presentation of “Touch and Live” and, also as a member of “For Your Heart”, traveling among different parishes in the diocese performing Christian music. As a lifelong parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus in Stratford, Mark sang in both the choir and folk group for many years. He will always be remembered for his rendition of “Stille Nacht” at the Christmas Eve mass, as well as for his singing of Taps at the end of Boy Scout events. In addition to his beloved wife, Carol, Mark is also survived by his two children, Julie and Erik and a granddaughter, the apple of his eye, Alexis Dzwonkowski, along with two brothers and their spouses: Michael Kascak & Bill Hritz, and Matthew and Dawn (Marcille) Kascak, and seven beautiful nieces. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his younger brother Edward T. Kascak and his nephew, James Ramanauskas. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, with the Reverend Albert Pinciaro officiating. Internment was held at Gate of Heaven cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. A celebration of Marks’ life will be held at a future date when his family and friends can gather safely together! Donations in Mark’s memory can be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue Stratford, CT 06614.
