Michael “Mike” Alan Hostetter, age 77, lifelong resident of Stratford, beloved husband of Sharon Fournier Hostetter, passed away on September 20, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Michael was born on October 1, 1947 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Russell and Mildred (Jablonski) Hostetter. He joined the Stratford Fire Department in May 1973, as a firefighter, and was promoted to Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and then Deputy Chief, retiring after 37 years. During Covid, Mike returned as Deputy Chief for 15 months. He was an avid Yankee and Giant fan, when they were winning, and loved spending time with family and friends. Mike also enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, Disney and Friday nights at Outriggers. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and banter. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, one son, Michael Hostetter Jr., one daughter, Lynn Oxendine, three stepdaughters, Kristen Broedlin, Jennifer Broedlin and Sharon Garrow, four grandchildren, C.J. Oxendine, Brian Garrow, Charlie Garrow and Rudy Broedlin, one brother-in-law, Ronald Fournier and wife, Patricia, and one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Fournier. In addition to his beloved parents, Michael was also predeceased by son-in-law, Brian Garrow, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Philip Hodson and brother-in-law, Lawrence Fournier. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Beatrice and Sandra for their loving care of Mike. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Robert Weiss and Deacon Paul Kurmay. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford.
