Raymond Zihala Obituary

Raymond Frank Zihala, age 91, of Shelton, beloved husband of Helen Borghi Zihala, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 in his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 31, 1929 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Frank W. and Elizabeth A. Yarusinsky Zihala. Raymond graduated Harding High School Class of 1947, he was a photo engraver by trade and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, when he served his country for four years during the Korean Conflict. He was also an avid bowler, a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Elks Lodge 36; he loved to visit the casino and traveled to all 50 states in his RV with his wife. In addition to his beloved wife, Helen, of 58 years, Raymond is also survived by two sons, Robert Duckworth and wife, Mary of Huntington and Leonard Duckworth of Florida, one daughter, Kathleen Arendt and Enrico Barone of Shelton, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved parents, Raymond was also predeceased by one son, David Duckworth and one brother, Frank Zihala. Due to the current health situation, all services were held privately and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. The family would like to thank the Stratford VNA and Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Raymond and his family.
