Regina H. Vrabel

Regina Cecilia Hojnowski Vrabel, age 88, of Stratford, Connecticut passed away early morning March 31, 2022.  The late Thomas and Maia Hojnowski, of Poland gave birth to Regina in Bridgeport, CT on November 22, 1933. She was one of six children and grew up in Bridgeport. Regina attended St Michaels Elementary School and graduated from Bassik High School in 1951. “Reggi” as friends called her, met, fell in love with, and married Edward John Vrabel on June 18, 1955 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Bridgeport, CT. Regina worked as a sales analyst and accountant with Dictaphone, General Electric, and Avco- Lycoming until she retired in 1988.  She was a 67-year parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church in Stratford, CT. There she was a long-time member of the Guild of the Mother of Jesus and served in many capacities, including President. During her 67 years of marriage, Regina shared her passions of traveling, sewing, cooking, baking, music, singing, and dancing with her family and friends. She was an accomplished golfer and duckpin bowler, belonging to many leagues. In those leagues she achieved a Hole in One at Woodhaven Country Club in 1991 and also managed a 400 Duckpin Series in 1983. Regina is survived by her husband, Edward John Vrabel, her son and daughter in law, Dr. Thomas Vrabel & Elsie Marie Vrabel, her two granddaughters, Monika Regina Vrabel, Krista Stefanie Vrabel, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved parents, Regina was also predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Henry, and Chester Hojnowski and two sisters, Dolores Kisliak and Jean Grywalski. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Albert Pinciaro. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. The Vrabel family wants to acknowledge and thank the many Doctors, Nurses, and Caregivers of the Geriatric floor of Ludlow Rehabilitation Center for taking such wonderful care of Regina with love.
