Robert R. Voccola

Robert R. (Rocky) Voccola, age 78, of Shelton, beloved husband of Marsha Spodnick Voccola, passed away suddenly on Friday December 13, 2024 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1946 in Bridgeport CT. He grew up on the east end of Bridgeport, graduated from Bullard Havens Technical School. He met his wife Marsha Spodnick at the old “hang out”of Briarwood Farms, during the “Blackout” of 1965. His first position, as a young man, was a four color pressman at Warner’s in Bridgeport. He then went on to painting and wallpaper hanging. Eventually he owned his business as “R & R HomeImprovement “. His final position was a construction manager for a commercial company. He had many hobbies and loved sports. He himself was a sportsman. Skeet and Trap shooting was his favorite sport. He participated in shooting sometimes twice a week. He won first place in the five man Great Eastern Tournament in Lordship CT. He also liked to fish and enjoyed playing one of his many guitars with his friends and many times alone. Out of his hobbies and sports, his favorite was spending time with his grandchildren. He had all sorts of gadgets to make them happy. A theater size popcorn machine, a cotton candy machine and let’s not forget the ice cream maker. Whatever Robert did, he made it fun. He will be truly missed. Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marsha Spodnick Voccola, two sons, Martin Voccola and wife, Andrea of Seymour, Brian Voccola and wife, Kelly of Oxford, five grandchildren Talia and Aiden Voccola, Abigail, Alyssa and Adelyn Voccola, his sister Linda Hanusick and husband John of Prospect, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Silvio and Dora Voccola. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Good Shepard Church, 135 Mountain Road in Seymour.
