Sandra Schreck Colvin, 75, of Shelton, joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, with her husband Scott by her side. Sandy was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Abington and Wyomissing PA. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College, she relocated to Cleveland and began her financial career with General Electric. It was during this time she met Scott although neither of them knew then of the wonderful life they would share in the future. That blessing began on May 18,1991 when they were married in Pittsburgh, PA and is summarized in the chorus to a classic country song:
Storms never last do they baby.
Bad times all pass in the wind.
Your hand in mine stills the thunder.
And you make the sun want to shine.
The couple worked together in Scott’s CPA practice until their 2018 retirement. Sandy’s diligence was key to the success of the business and the work only strengthened their love for each other.
Sandy’s friendly, outgoing nature was contagious and impacted many others. She credited this attribute to God, who helped it overshadow her ongoing health concerns. Sandy enjoyed dance which included tap and surprisingly country line dancing. Laughter and joy were an integral part of each.
Her love for her college minor, art, blossomed into an extraordinary decorating talent evidenced in home décor and more importantly her church work. Everyone enjoyed Sandy’s floral and altar arrangements. This talent has been particularly noteworthy during the past 18 months as The Table’s needs require both unique creativity and dedication.
The family thanks God for the faith driven ministry/leadership of The Table’s Lead Shepherd, Fr. Amjad Samuel, as well as the love, concern, prayers/ prayer vigils held for Sandy by The Table’s faith community during her recent hospitalization. Also, for the prayers and numerous hospital visits from friends and neighbors. Finally, for her longtime oncology team, Justin Persico MD and Andrea Brennan PA, the nursing staff at Yale New Haven’s Park Avenue facility, Bridgeport Hospital’s Medical/Surgical/Palliative Care Doctors and the NE7 Tower nursing staff for their love and tender care during her final days.
Survivors include her husband Scott, sister Joanne Morgan (Lyn), brother Roger Schreck (Gabby) and brother-in-law Gene Colvin. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Kenneth and Josephine Schreck.
A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will take place on Thursday, July 24th at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains in Trumbull. Calling hour begins at 10 AM and service starts at 11AM. The burial will take place on Friday, July 25th at Huntington Lawn Cemetery, 40 Lane Street in Shelton at 10AM.
