Sophie Steinman

Steinman, Sophie George Steinman, age 98, of Stuart, FL, a long-time resident of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Alvin Steinman, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2016 in Stuart, FL with her loving daughters by her side. Sophie was born on April 7, 1918 in Hazleton, PA and was the daughter of the late Peter and Sadie George, and was the last surviving sibling of seven brothers and sisters. Sophie was employed for over 40 years at Robertshaw Controls in Milford. She was a member of Germania-Schwaben, Baldwin Center, F.D.I.C, and the Bingo group at Elm Terrace Senior Housing in Stratford. Sophie was loved for her kindness, generosity, and her delicious home cooking and baking. She is survived by two daughters Loretta Dixson and husband John and Carol Adams and husband Deke all of Hobe Sound FL, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and dear friend, Ann McAllister of Stratford. In addition to her beloved husband, Alvin, Sophie was also preceded by her son Robert Steinman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, 2070 Main Street. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday morning, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local Hospice, Stratford Cat Project, P.O. Box 1261, Stratford, CT 06614 or a charity of one's choice.
