Czerwinski, Stanley A. Czerwinski, age 96, of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Mary F. Patusky Czerwinski, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2016 in Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. Stanley was born on July 30, 1919 in Philadelphia and was the son of the late Boleslaw and Antonina Kornecki Czerwinski. He was a proud US Army Veteran, who served his country proudly as a tank destroyer driver. Stanley was deployed to North Africa, then send to Milan, Anzio and to Rome, where while visiting the Vatican, saw Pope Pius XII at St. Peter's Cathedral. After 44 months of service, Stanley received honorable discharge. He was employed by Remington Arms as a machinist. Stanley is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ann Carrafiello and husband Joseph of Seymour, two grandchildren, Joseph A. Carrafiello Jr. and wife Wendy of Seymour and Nancy Ann Autunno and husband Jody of Plainville, four great grandchildren, Téa and Ava Autunno and twin great grandsons, Robby and Joey Carrafiello, two sisters-in-law, Cele Sportelli of Sherman Oaks, CA and Bertha Grabowski of Shelton and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Mary of 66 years, Stanley was also predeceased by three brothers, Walter Czerwinski, Joseph Czerwinski and Bronislaw Czerwinski, one sister, Helen Czerwinski and one cousin, Andrew Kornecki.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 9:30 AM in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's of Stratford National Catholic Church, 1300 Stratford Road, Stratford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Michal Gitner. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home on Tuesday from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. The family wishes to thank, Stanley's nurse, Paula Russell and the entire staff at Shady Knoll Health Care for the outstanding care they provided to him during this trying time.
